**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer with experience in rail and/or highway design for employment in the Philadelphia office to work in an established Rail Engineering Department, serving national and international freight and transit clients.

Under the responsible charge of a Project Manager, candidates must:

Perform assignments requiring application of standard or complex techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.

Apply knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects. Exercise judgment in setting path for design approach, and executing the approach utilizing junior staff.

Lead large and complex tasks or serve as discipline lead on multi-discipline projects.

Must have experience in leading design teams, delegating work, and following project schedule and budgets in order to produce the deliverables.

Produce high quality plans, specifications, and estimates that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor. Confirm all deliverables agree and are coordinated across design disciplines.

Assist in project proposals, lead the AECOM quality process on project deliverables, and focus on project delivery.

Coordinate with project manager and other design disciplines on project submissions, plan reviews, and client interactions.

**Minimum Requirements**

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation engineering with 6 or more years or related experience.

Significant experience developing horizontal and vertical alignments, using InRoads and/or Civil 3D software packages

Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines for the submission of an engineering plan set, estimates, and specifications

Responsible for the effective management of own time and effort, in accordance with project priorities and objectives.

Overseeing the work of less experienced engineers.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Be organized and detail-oriented.

Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.

Willingness to travel (if and when required).

**Preferred Qualifications**

Candidates should have 10-15 years of engineering experience on rail, transit, and/or highway projects. Significant experience using InRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects is required.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)

Professional Engineer (PE)

Must possess a valid driver's license

Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering

Familiarity in freight or transit rail clients

Previous work experience in rail is preferred
